Retro Posters are great inspiration. There are so many great posters from the past. Everybody has some of them in the imagination. There is something special in it. It doesn’t matter is it a shape, a color or a favorite character. I remember posters of famous movies from the 70s and 80s. Nowadays movie posters looks different. I know some posters that are using old fashion styles and are inspired by vintage posters. It looks unique and special. Meeting new people during my promotion of the maps I have a chance for interesting new projects. It is my first time when I was asked to make an interior with my artprints map on the wall. The place is a small cafe shop with around 6 tables and a sofa. The owner wanted to make a renewal of the whole place painting the existing brown colors with white and shades of gray. One of the main walls had to be covered with a neighborhood map. I started my design by using the existing Line style, it fitted well with the white interior. I made the map more complex by adding buildings, also drawing it with light line, filling it with small dots. Overall the whole wall decor map looks amazing. Last weekend we were lucky to join an art fair with our print map design. First of all the people who visited the art fair really appreciated our town posters. Most of other people displaying there where artist them self’s. We contributed to the event with a variety of our poster work. The most appreciated where our Red style which people found very interesting. The connection of contrast colors of dark blue and oranges looks mesmerizing and can shine in many colors depending on the light in the interior. Last week I found some nice map art prints. I was doing some research in the library, reading about map making methodology. History of map creators interests me. How people see space in old times and different cultures. While picking up book by book, there were many old framed maps above me and a old album next to me. Therefore I had to check it. It was an album with a vintage map of Tokyo from 1930. Pages where in good condition. Graphically it looked amazing. Most of all it was full of small symbols meaning different topographical and geographical details. A few pages of legend where attached to figure it out. Seems like I spend few hours studding these maps and compering it to existing city structure. Inside a large map poster was included. In conclusion I found that the city itself was much more divided and some areas has a long history yet didn’t change much. While I search the for an inspiration to create a city map poster I mostly find normal – one color stuff. Simple city poster stylized map in white and one other color. It can be red, yellow, pink. Usually the streets are white and the rest is the other color. Seems like there is no imagination process and not much work inside. First of all it is not a bad design after all. In addition the minimalist map “less is more” usually works. But the posters that are simple yet good are possessing an eye catching thing. Whatever it is shape, size or special font it doesn’t matter. As a result I find these posters most inspiring. My new map prints are just out. I was working in this custom city maps project for some time now. Trying to find a new approach on the map poster idea. First of all I decided the beautiful map design to be more vivid and colorful. Furthermore the chosen colors are a set of retro style. These are the colors that were used some time ago and now these colors remind us of that time. Additionally I also used different patterns for each layer. Water is full of moving waves while the background is full of sharp cut orange stripes. As a result I am very happy with this street map design. City prints are something I didn’t know I will be doing, but now I am happy to. Designing a new cool map posters is a thing in the whole process that I like the most. Design has to be unique and innovative. I try to keep it that way. First of all I have an ideas “how to create my own map”. Ideas for new map posters. Ideas for new map prints. Lots of them. It is good to have a lot as I can pick and combine them to design own map. The idea for the map prints of cities has to be checked with reality. The cities. It means it has to work with all of them. It has to underline the important areas in the city. Because the cities are completely different, some can have lots of parks, others mostly streets. I have to find a middle line in the design.
