Print art fair

Last weekend we were lucky to join an art fair with our print map design. First of all the people who visited the art fair really appreciated our town posters. Most of other people displaying there where artist them self’s. We contributed to the event with a variety of our poster work. The most appreciated where our Red style which people found very interesting. The connection of contrast colors of dark blue and oranges looks mesmerizing and can shine in many colors depending on the light in the interior. Seems like the map design has a big opportunity to evolve. Print Map Design Find out you city here: Canada, United States, South America, Europe, Asia & Oceania Our shop.

Good legend

Last week I found some nice map art prints. I was doing some research in the library, reading about map making methodology. History of map creators interests me. How people see space in old times and different cultures. While picking up book by book, there were many old framed maps above me and a old album next to me. Therefore I had to check it. It was an album with a vintage map of Tokyo from 1930. Pages where in good condition. Graphically it looked amazing. Most of all it was full of small symbols meaning different topographical and geographical details. A few pages of legend where attached to figure it out. Seems like I spend few hours studding these maps and compering it to existing city structure. Inside a large map poster was included. In conclusion I found that the city itself was much more divided and some areas has a long history yet didn’t change much. New York City Map Art

City Map Art City Map Art – I am happy to inform you about my new city map art project that I finished. The idea for drawing New York urban plan in big scale on 100x70cm paper came to me long time ago. I wanted to do it big with high detailed city maps. Plain sheet of paper, Japanese ink and more than 15 hours of work was needed to finish this project. By drawing NYC city map building by building I learned some more cool stuff about the city space. I also found places that I didn’t know how they look in urban scale. After all I created a large wall map that furnish my room. <p style=”text-align: justify;”>Find out you city here:</p> <p style=”text-align: justify;”><a href=”https://cityartposters.com/canada-city-map-posters/” target=”_blank”>Canada</a>, <a href=”https://cityartposters.com/united-states-city-map-posters/” target=”_blank”>United States</a>, <a href=”https://cityartposters.com/south-america-city-map-posters/” target=”_blank”>South America</a>, <a href=”https://cityartposters.com/europe-city-map-posters/” target=”_blank”>Europe</a>, <a href=”https://cityartposters.com/asia-oceania-city-map-posters/” target=”_blank”>Asia &amp; Oceania</a></p>

Portland Map Print

Portland Map Print Last week I was asked to make Portland map print. Not the Portland in Oregon but the one in Maine. It is the largest city in this state, that survived numerous difficult times. In 1866 during the Independence Day the Great Fire of Portland ignited, destroying most of the buildings and hundreds of homes. More than 10,000 people were left homeless after this tragedy. From this hard times the city has its motto Resurgam, from Latin means “I will rise again.”. The motto together with a phoenix rising from ashes creates the city seal. Apart from its history, Portland is just beautiful. It is also one of the best places to live in Unites States of America. People want to live here because of plenty of exciting local activities and attractions. The city is also famous for its Museum of Art, be sure to check it out.

Map Art – Different City Patterns

Map Art – Different City Patterns Sitting in my living room with a wall full of map art, I have times to wonder, what this city shapes resemble. I compare Tokyo, New York or Amsterdam. Cities made by mankind that grow from a single settlement. Viewing from a top, makes a piece of art. Changing the perspective gives a better and more inspiring view. Thousands of houses joined by hundreds of streets makes this cities. A living organism that has its shape based on a topography. Sea, river or forest are the bounders of this structure. Sometimes people overcome the nature and made a perfect shape, but usually the geometry become rectangular. Parallel street lines makes it easier to understand the whole pattern of the city. However it give the city to be more similar and unsurprising. Designing a city as an incredible work. The creator makes a map art, makes the city to look beautiful.

Introducing Map Art Adventure

My adventure with local market where I introduced my map art. Walking around Tokyo you can find many small markets around shrines or train stations. It is a great place to go and look what other people have on the stalls. Many artist are trying to show their art to the public. I thought: “Maybe I should try it too?” And I did, last Saturday I went to one of the bigger markets located in central Tokyo. It was sunny and warm weather, but unfortunately for my map art prints it was windy too. I managed to meet many people who were interested in the city maps and some of them even bought a few art posters. All of them looked very happy with their new poster. I took the picture of my small map art stall 🙂 Do you think I should do it again? If so, let my know of a good place?

Vintage Map

The Story Of Vintage Map Some time ago walking through streets of Tokyo I found at the local flee market a vintage map. The moment I saw it, I was fascinated how beautiful it is and how detailed it was. In the corner of the map the long legend explained the complicated symbols. The texture of this map, the colors and graphic patterns matched each other perfectly, together creating a piece of art.  Making Vintage Map This image of old map was haunting me for a long time, and I had to do something with it. Firstly, my love for urban plans as well as street plans of cities made a great role in creating a current street map of Tokyo. Simple line map, but I was surprised how good it looks. However it was missing something. I started to use my graphic design skills to recreate the mood of a vintage look. Looking for the old style paper, deciding the color palette as well as watercolor finish was my priority. Ultimately Tokyo was recreated as a vintage map. The moment I finished this small poster project, I started thinking how different cites such as New York, Chicago, Boston or Paris […]
